SCIENCE
Children in the Lower School learn to enjoy science by being introduced in a personal and inter-active way to a variety of topics and integrated studies. We encourage children to respond in a variety of ways to what they see, hear, touch, smell and feel. Moving through the Science syllabus, the older pupils reach a stage where they are looking at advanced topics such as dissolving, forces, food chains, micro-organisms, circuits and electricity and changes of state involving liquids, solids and gases.
ICT
All children at Cameron House are encouraged to use our computer laboratory from the outset. The computer suite and a class set of laptops are available for every child to use. In addition, each classroom has a computer which links into the school's network, using a number of inter-active whiteboards which were introduced in spring 2005.
Pupils are processing information via the computer, understanding instructions and representing information graphically, as well as classifying and modelling.
By the time that the children leave Cameron House in Year 6, they are very advanced in their understanding and can create multimedia presentations, create spreadsheets and use the internet extensively. This helps them to research subjects thoroughly when they enter their chosen senior school.
